About Touch of Europe

In 2001, we started with a simple idea: to provide interesting, unusual, hard to find and popular items from Europe (or items with a European flair). Really, just all the things we missed after living in Europe for decades.” – Mimi Kriele

Touch of Europe owners, Peter and Mimi Kriele know a thing or two about living “La Dolce Vita” or “The Sweet Life”. After all, Europe was home for most of their lives. Peter was born in Indonesia to a Dutch military father and a half-Indonesian mother. He moved to Holland in 1951 when the Dutch were forced to leave Indonesia. Mimi was born in Lake Como, Italy, where she lived until moving to Brussels.

Before marrying, both Peter and Mimi had jobs that allowed them to become well-traveled. When they got married, they settled down in Holland, and then moved as a couple to Belgium in 1993. While living in Belgium, Mimi started a business in which she imported American goods to Europe – the exact opposite of the business the couple would later start in the US.

In 1996, they traded their American imports business for a taste of the real thing. That year, they moved to Atlanta, GA. “We picked Atlanta because the Olympics were coming and we figured we’d fit in well in an international environment.” explains Mimi. A few years later (2001), Touch of Europe was born from a single vintage listing on EBay…

Today, Touch of Europe carries all things European – from vintage linens, luxury skin care & spa items, gourmet foods & beverages to home décor and accessories, tableware, kitchenware, gift items, and more.
